At FreeLawSchool, we’re here to ensure you’re not just another business owner. You’re a business leader equipped to thrive in any situation.
At FreeLawSchool, the aim is to put power back in your hands. The goal? To arm entrepreneurs with the knowledge needed to handle the legal nuts and bolts of their businesses on their own. I’m not just teaching you the law—I’m teaching you how to build a solid business foundation where every decision, now and throughout your business journey, is backed by real understanding. As your own boss and lawyer, you'll be prepared to tackle legal challenges head-on and, when things get complex, you'll know how to stand on solid ground when seeking professional legal help.
When I say "FreeLawSchool," I’m not talking about the absence of value. Not at all. I’m talking about the freedom and empowerment that comes from understanding the law. I know that hiring a lawyer can strain resources—think $500 to $2,000 just to review a contract, or $2,000 to $10,000 for a compliance package. And what about IP protection, where trademarks and patents can set you back anywhere from $1,000 to $15,000? My mission is to make sure you can access the critical legal guidance, knowledge, and self-help resources you need without straining your startup finances or compromising your business foundation, so you can confidently build and grow your business.
We will cover the essentials—business formation, contracts, asset protection, compliance, and IP protection. With my guidance, you’re not just avoiding big legal fees; you’re laying the groundwork for long-term success. I want you to be the ProSePreneur who knows exactly what’s what, so when complex legal issues do arise, you're ready to work with a lawyer from a position of strength.
The American Bar Association’s annual survey of state bars and licensing agencies provides a comprehensive national count of lawyers dating back to 1878. It includes data on the number of active resident lawyers in each state over the past decade and details on the percentage of lawyers by gender, race, and ethnicity from 2012 to 2022. One significant finding from the survey is that the percentage of Black lawyers has remained nearly unchanged over the past decade. In 2012, 4.7% of all lawyers were Black, while today that number is 4.5%. This is significantly lower than the 13.4% share of Black people in the U.S. population.
The reality is that there are about 1.3 million licensed attorneys in the U.S., serving a population of over 330 million people (American Bar Association, 2023). However, not all of these attorneys are readily available to the average person. Many are employed in government positions, working for large corporations, or focusing on specialized areas of law. This means the pool of lawyers available for hire is much smaller than it appears, and during a crisis, finding the right attorney who is both available and willing to take your case can be even more challenging.
That’s why it’s so crucial to have your business and legal affairs in order from the start. When your legal foundation is strong, your asset structure is solid, and your records are airtight, you make it easier for the right lawyer to step in when you need them most. You also give yourself the best shot at winning legal battles.
Free Law School is here to make sure you’re not just another business owner, but a ProSePreneur who’s ready for anything. With the right knowledge, you can handle legal challenges with confidence, whether you’re doing it yourself or teaming up with a professional.
